Brazil’s Justice Ministry stated on Monday that the United States technology company Facebook has to pay a 6.6 million real (approx. $1.6 million) fine for exposing user data. The ministry added it fined Facebook over users' data misuse in the Cambridge Analytica scandal.
The Facebook-Cambridge Analytica data scandal from 2018 revealed the company used the personal information of millions of Facebook users without their consent, for political advertising purposes.
Ten days ago, tech research company Comparitech also revealed another event in which the data of over 267 million Facebook users were exposed online.
