Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico accused Ukraine on Thursday of "sabotaging" Slovakia’s public finances and undermining the European Union's financial stability following Kiev's decision to halt gas transit to Europe.
"President Zelensky has started sabotaging the public finances of the Slovak Republic and damaging the financial interests of the entire EU. Slovakia must demonstrate that it is a sovereign country," Fico wrote on Facebook.
Fico warned that his government might respond by cutting electricity supplies and reducing assistance for Ukrainian citizens residing in Slovakia.
