The G7 said in a statement on Friday that the "accelerating build-up" of China's nuclear arsenal represents a "concern to global and regional stability." The group said China's nuclear program is expanding "without transparency nor meaningful dialogue." It also criticized Russia's "irresponsible nuclear rhetoric, undermining of arms control regimes, and stated intent to deploy nuclear weapons in Belarus."

The G7 urged nuclear-weapon states to provide data on their nuclear forces and the objective size of their nuclear arsenal and called on China and Russia to "engage substantively in relevant multilateral and bilateral forums," in line with their obligations under the Treaty on the Non-proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT).
