Gabon's coup leader Nguema elected president

General Bris Clotaire Oligui Nguema (pictured), who led the coup in the country in 2023 was elected president on Sunday, official results showed.

Nguema, who served as a transitional president after overthrowing then-President Ali Bongo Ondimba, won 90.35% of the vote, beating seven other candidates to secure the presidency.
