Data from Germany's statistical office, Destatis, showed on Friday that annual producer price inflation in Germany stood at a negative 1.4% in September, lower than expected, and also down from 0.8% in the previous month.
On a monthly basis, the Producer Price Index fell 0.5%, primarily driven by reduced energy costs. Energy prices dropped 6.6% year-on-year, with petroleum products down 14.4% and natural gas prices 10.4% lower.
Excluding energy, producer prices rose by 1.2% compared to September 2023. Capital and consumer goods saw modest price increases, while intermediate goods showed mixed trends. Other sectors, like machinery and food, experienced a moderate price rise.
