German Economy Minister Robert Habeck noted during a press conference on Thursday, that Berlin will not raise the alert level despite losing around 10 million cubic meters of gas daily after Russia's decision to halt gas supplies to the country.
Habeck emphasized situation is "manageable" since this is a "compensable" amount of energy that can be supplied from other sources. The minister accused Russian President Vladimir Putin of using energy as a "weapon" after Moscow decided to impose retaliatory sanctions against 31 European companies, including Gazprom Germania.
The minister stated that the crisis committee will meet today and discuss the latest developments concerning the energy situation in the country.
