Guterres: Khashoggi probe is 'essential'

United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said on Sunday at the Doha Forum that he has no knowledge about the murder of Saudi dissident Jamal Khashoggi in the consulate in Istanbul other than what was carried in the media. "It is absolutely essential to have a credible investigation," he stressed and called for perpetrators to be held responsible.

Turkey's Minister of Foreign Affairs revealed on December 11 that his government is discussing with the UN about the possibility to start an international probe into the killing. Today he said in Doha that the United States may have additional information about the case.
