United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, speaking at the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation Summit (FOCAC) in Beijing on Thursday, urged leaders to correct the "historic injustices" that have long affected the continent. Guterres emphasized the need for global recognition and rectification of the economic and political disadvantages imposed on Africa due to colonialism and exploitation.
"It is outrageous, for example, that the continent of Africa has still no permanent seat on the Security Council.
He added that partnership between China and the continent could benefit eradication of poverty, development of technologies and a renewable energy revolution.
