British Chancellor Philip Hammond stated on Wednesday that Boris Johnson, the front runner to replace Theresa May as the country's next prime minister, would find it "impossible" to deliver Brexit by October 31 as he promised earlier. Hammond stressed that it's "not sensible for candidates to box themselves in" and added that Parliament won't allow a no-deal departure from the European Union.
At the same time, finding a majority for a withdrawal deal among MPs by the end of October may not be easy, the chancellor added. If Parliament fails to find a solution for exiting the bloc, "we will have to go back to the people through the democratic process - either a referendum or a Gen election," Hammond said.
