Heathrow Airport announced on Friday that it is "safely" able to restart flights today after it previously stated that it may face days of "significant disruption" following a power outage caused by a fire at an electrical substation.
"We're now safely able to restart flights, prioritizing repatriation and relocation of aircraft. Please do not travel to the airport unless your airline has advised you to do so," the airport stated in a post on X. "We hope to run a full operation tomorrow and will provide further information shortly. Our priority remains the safety of our passengers and those working at the airport," it added.
The British police confirmed that there were no indications of foul play regarding the fires, although the counterterrorism officers were leading the investigation in line with the standard protocol for such incidents disrupting national infrastructure.
