Hong Kong has deployed a 51-member search and rescue team to Myanmar to assist in earthquake relief efforts, Hong Kong's Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu (pictured) announced on Saturday.
The team, made up of experts from the Security Bureau, Fire Services Department, Immigration Department and Hospital Authority, already left for Myanmar. Lee also conveyed his condolences to Myanmar's Consul-General in Hong Kong, Han Win Naing, and reaffirmed the government's commitment to providing further assistance.
The announcement came shortly after China confirmed it sent two Chinese rescue teams to help the country devastated by a 7.7-magnitude quake.
