Yemen's Houthi rebels claimed on Thursday to have seized the Maersk container ship in the southern Red Sea.

The ship, property of the Danish international container shipping company, was seemingly en route to Israel before it was targeted with a missile after ignoring orders from the militia.

"The great Yemeni missiles do not miss their targets; they are fiery warning messages," Yemeni Armed Forces Brigadier General Abdullah bin Amer noted on the happening. The vessel is allegedly being transported to Yemeni ports.
