Hungary could block some Russia sanctions - report

Hungary could block the effort to extend some sanctions imposed on Russia by the European Union, Radio Free Europe reported on Tuesday. Unnamed EU diplomats stated Hungary is requesting that three oligarchs be removed from the sanctions list before agreeing to renew the measures, Alisher Usmanov, Pyotr Aven, and Viktor Rashnikov.

The report also stated Hungary is asking "for an exemption for humanitarian organizations to have business with some Russian banks that are currently under sanctions." The sanctions extension will be on the table on Wednesday, with the deadline on September 15.
