Hurricane Fiona reaches Category 4

The United States National Hurricane Center (NHC) stated on Wednesday that Hurricane Fiona strengthened to Category 4. Currently, the maximum speed of sustained winds has reached 130 mph as the hurricane moves toward Bermuda.

The NHC warned that Fiona is expected to continue gaining strength through the night, reaching Bermuda by late Thursday or early Friday local time. It also stated that swells caused by the hurricane could result in "life-threatening surf and rip current conditions."
