Former United States President Donald Trump said at a mass gathering in Washington Township, Michigan that his administration effectively "charged China hundreds of billions in taxes and tariffs", reportedly saving the US "steel and auto industry."
He noted that despite the US trade deficit of $507 billion with Beijing, no other US president "ever charged China, not ten cents."
Trump highlighted his accomplishment in withdrawing the US from the "terrible Trans-Pacific Partnership" trade agreement, while also replacing the "horrible NAFTA" (North American Free Trade Agreement ) deal with the USMCA agreement, "creating hundreds of thousands of jobs for American auto workers."
