The report Director of National Intelligence (DNI) Tulsi Gabbard and Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) head John Ratcliffe presented on Tuesday before the United States Senate Select Committee on Intelligence (SSCI) claimed that China and Russia have taken an interest in Greenland for its natural resources and strategic position.

The remarks came amid President Donald Trump's plans for the US to annex Greenland from Denmark, insisting that the island "is calling us, we're not calling them" and that people there "want something to happen."

Meanwhile, Denmark vowed to resist Washington's "unacceptable pressure" over Greenland's status.
