Iran is seeking up to $40 billion in energy investments from China, the country's deputy oil minister, Ahmad Asadzadeh, was quoted as saying by State TV on Wednesday.

During his visit to China, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi is slated to hold talks over the loans for the energy sector, Asadzadeh commented. He further noted that Tehran, Beijing and Moscow will all work together so as to "ease payments."

Previously, Chinese President Xi Jinping stressed the importance of sustaining stability in the Middle East, as only this will guarantee a stable supply of energy.
