China will provide Myanmar with 100 million yuan ($13.77 million) in relief following a devastating 7.7-magnitude earthquake, the Chinese embassy in Myanmar announced Saturday.
At Myanmar's request, the Chinese government approved the aid package, which includes essential supplies such as tents, blankets, medical kits, food and water. According to the embassy, two rescue teams have also been deployed to help the country, with the first group already arriving in Yangon to begin relief efforts. However, the first shipment of aid is scheduled to reach the country on Monday.
Meanwhile, Chinese state media reported that President Xi Jinping expressed condolences to Myanmar's junta chief Min Aung Hlaing.
