Irish FM: Always time to strike deal on tariffs

Ireland's Minister for Foreign Affairs, Trade and Defense Simon Harris said on Monday that his government will stand firmly behind the European Union's response to tariffs imposed by the United States. He said he will call for a "strong but proportionate" reaction during today's meeting of the union's trade ministers.

However, Harris also insisted that the EU must continue negotiating with the US, claiming that "there is always time to strike a deal." His view contrasts that of US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, who said last week that there will be no tariff exemptions and insisted US President Donald Trump will not "back off" from his economic policy.
