Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) blamed Iran on Thursday for the escalation of tensions in the region, saying its alleged attack on Israeli-occupied Golan Heights "proved that Iran posed a threat to Israel and regional stability." According to Israel, Iranian militia fired around 20 rockets at Israeli positions in the course of the previous night, after which the IDF retaliated, attacking "tens of military targets belonging to Iran's al-Quds militia in the Syrian territory," according to a statement.
However, an IDF spokesman said the Israeli military does not want further escalations. "We remain on high alert and vigilant, and we monitor Iranian activity in Syria," he said. "We do not want to escalate the situation, but we will respond to a new Iranian attack, we are ready to give a powerful response. We caution the Iranians against it."
