Israel: Truce extension not final until it happens

Israel Defense Forces (IDF spokesperson Daniel Hagari said on Monday that the extension of the truce with Hamas for another two days is not "final."

"We are managing a deal through mediators around the clock. Nothing is final until it actually happens," Hagari stated. "Things are progressing, tonight as well, but patience is required," he added. The IDF spokesperson also noted the fourth round of releasing hostages held by Hamas is now "underway," with 11 Israelis on their way back to the country's territory.

Earlier in the day, Qatar, the mediator in the talks between the warring sides, and Hamas both said that a deal had been reached to extend the truce, which was set to end on Tuesday morning, and exchange of hostages by another two days.
