Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani criticized Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday for his proposal to end the Ukraine war.
"President Putin's proposal was not peace, but capitulation. As such, it is unacceptable. Peace is something different," he said at a joint meeting of the foreign affairs committees of both houses of the Italian parliament. At the same time, Tajani voiced his support for Ukrainian air defense.
The news comes after the peace summit in Switzerland, where Ukraine received the support of 78 nations. However, last week, Putin stated in a speech at the Russian Foreign Ministry that he was ready for talks only if the withdrawal from the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia, were completed.
