The Japanese Ministry of Defense is reportedly planning to develop long-range missiles with ranges of up to about 3,000 kilometers in the 2030s. These missiles are said to be capable of reaching North Korea and some parts of China, according to sources cited by Kyodo in a report published on Saturday.

This news comes days after Japan announced its largest military expansion since World War II, with a $320 billion plan that includes the acquisition of missiles capable of reaching China. The move follows increasing regional tensions and Russia's invasion of Ukraine, which have also sparked concerns about fresh tensions in Southeast Asia.
