House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries is considering endorsing the elimination of the debt ceiling, Axios reported. According to people familiar with the matter, the high-ranking Democrat said his party "may engage" with President-elect Donald Trump's demand to scrap the debt limit.

Trump said on Thursday abolishing the ceiling would be "the smartest thing [Congress] could do." The Democrats refused to deal with the issue before a government funding bill is adopted.
