Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi (pictured) told the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) on Thursday that peace in the Middle East cannot be achieved until Palestine is recognized as an "independent and sovereign state."
Safadi accused Israel of "barbarism, racism, and vindication" against the Palestinian people and claimed "such arrogance and inhumanity in modern history." He particularly slammed Israel for displacing two-thirds of the Gaza population and turning the area into a "wreckage."
Later in the day, the UNSC is set to vote on Palestine's request to get full UN member status, but the United States already said it will veto the resolution.
