Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov expressed doubts that a "neutral, unbiased and impartial" investigation into the recent events in Bucha, near Kiev, is possible.
Describing the alleged videos from the streets of Bucha as a "monstrous forgery," Peskov told reporters on Tuesday that the West and the United Nations Security Council should "think with [their] head and try to compare the facts" instead of covering their "eyes and ears with blinders."
Peskov also pointed to the contradicting statements by the Pentagon and United States President Joe Biden after the American commander-in-chief characterized the events in Bucha as a "war crime," while his Department of Defense said that it does not have independent information that could support such accusations.
