Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said on Monday that statements made by foreign countries on the legitimacy of elections in Russia are "absurd."
"If we talk about the illegitimacy of elections in our country, then we probably need to talk about the illegitimacy of those 87% of the votes of the population of our country that were cast for President [Vladimir] Putin. This is absurd," Peskov told reporters.
Previously, Western countries brought into question the lawfulness of Russia's elections, noting that they can hardly be "free" and "fair."
