Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said on Wednesday that Russian President Vladimir Putin and United States President Donald Trump "understand each other well and trust each other" following their phone call yesterday. He noted that Putin is interested in further contacts with Washington and that both sides "intend to gradually move along the path of normalizing" relations.
Peskov claimed that Putin issued an order to implement a pause on energy infrastructure strikes "immediately" after speaking to Trump and that the order was carried out. However, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Russian drones struck Ukrainian energy facilities overnight.
