Landing gear failure likely caused Boeing plane crash

South Korean authorities believe that landing gear malfunction is the likely cause of the Jeju Air flight crash that killed 28 people early on Sunday morning local time, Yonhap News Agency reported.

Witness reports say the airplane's landing gear apparently remained inactive, prompting the pilot to attempt a crash landing. Bird collision was cited as a possible cause of landing gear malfunction. The accident occurred when the plane drove off the runway and impacted a fence, causing a fire on the aircraft.

Meanwhile, emergency services managed to rescue three people and extinguish the initial fire.
