Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Tuesday that the Russian delegation discussed safe navigation in the Black Sea with the United States counterparts in Saudi Arabia yesterday. He said Russia is in favor of rejoining the Black Sea Grain Initiative, a plan to safely transport food, which was first agreed in July 2022 and expired a year later.
However, Lavrov said the initiative should be resumed in a "form more acceptable to all," without providing details. He insisted Russia will require "clear" guarantees before the deal is restarted, adding that Moscow can only accept guarantees from Ukraine if they come as orders from the United States.
