Taiwan's Defense Ministry stated Friday that the military will "defend national security with firm actions," adding that China has damaged the status quo in the strait with the latest escalation.

The ministry informed that Chinese Air Force aircraft crossed the Taiwan Strait median line 68 times on Friday until 17:00 local time. Taiwan condemned these actions that intend to harass the country by surrounding the island.

The remarks come after Chinese media reported that over 100 warplanes and ten warships were sent to participate in the military drills. In parallel to the military scenario, China's Foreign Ministry announced new measures against the United States earlier.
