The United States National Hurricane Center (NHC) said that tropical storm Milton strengthened into a Category 1 hurricane as it approached the US coast. The NHC warned the hurricane is expected to bring "multiple dangerous impacts" to Florida starting late Tuesday local time.
The NHC also warned Milton is expected to rapidly intensify. "There is increasing confidence that a powerful hurricane with life-threatening hazards will be affecting portions of the Florida west coast" once it makes landfall.
