Former Bolivian President Evo Morales departed Argentina in a Venezuelan government-owned airplane bound for Caracas, South American media reported.
At the same time, Morales-led MAS-IPSP party's candidate Luis Arce has been confirmed as the winner of the presidential election in Bolivia held on October 18. He had officially secured 55.1% of the vote, while other candidates failed to reach 30%. In addition, the MAS-IPSP won 73 of 130 seats in the Chamber of Deputies and gained 21 of 36 seats in the Senate.
After winning last year's Bolivian general election, Morales resigned from his post in November 2019 following the loss of support from the military as widespread protests sparked by "electoral fraud" allegations engulfed the country. He was granted asylum in Argentina, moving there from Mexico in December 2019.
