Billionaire entrepreneur and head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) Elon Musk declared that fraud in government payments is bigger than assumed.

Musk reposted a graph uploaded by another X user identifying the United States Treasury Department as the biggest source of government waste, followed by the Department of Labor and the Department of Veterans Affairs.

He further stated that "tax reform is needed" adding that the existing system has "too many loopholes." In a separate post, Musk clarified DOGE's position vis-a-vis US Treasury explaining that the two departments agreed to process all outgoing payments under a categorization code that will make it possible to pass future financial audits.
