Tesla Inc. Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Elon Musk stated on Friday the talks for his acquisition of Twitter Inc. has been put "temporarily on hold pending details supporting calculation that spam/fake accounts do indeed represent less than 5% of users."
In his newest tweet, Musk referred to the study the social media company revealed earlier this month, which showed that false or spam accounts represented fewer than 5% of its active users. Meanwhile, Twitter revealed its plan to increase efforts to combat content posted by such accounts.
Earlier this month, Musk said that, if his acquisition plan is completed, "work ethic expectations would be extreme, but much less than I demand of myself." Later, the businessman revealed that, in case he acquires the company, he might lift the platform's ban on former United States President Donald Trump.
