The United States is aiming for the collapse of the North Korean government and Pyongyang will never give up its nuclear weapons and its right to self-defense, the Asian nation's Supreme Leader Kim Jong-un said on Friday.

Delivering a speech to the North Korean Supreme People's Assembly after it passed a bill enabling Pyongyang to respond with nuclear weapons "as the last means in order to cope with outside aggression and attack seriously threatening the security of the country and the people," Kim stressed the country will not negotiate its denuclearization.

"By enacting the nuclear force policy into law, the status of our country as a nuclear weapons state has become irreversible," its leader underscored, according to North Korean state-owned media.
