North Korea denied reports that it has been providing Syria with materials that can be used to manufacture chemical weapons and added it has not developed nor produced them.

"As had been elucidated several times, the DPRK does not have a single record of developing, producing and stockpiling a chemical weapon, and it is opposed to chemical weapons themselves," an unnamed director of the press at the North Korean foreign ministry's Institute for American studies was quoted as saying by KCNA.

The New York Times reported earlier, citing UN report, that Pyongyang sent acid-resistant tiles, valves and thermometers, as well as technicians to Syria.
