Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer announced Friday that he will hold a telephone conversation with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin later today.
"I will be on the phone with President Putin this afternoon. This is Austria's contribution within the framework of active neutrality policy," said Nehammer on Twitter. "Only dialogue can pave the way for peace in Ukraine."
The message from Nehammer comes after Russia raised concerns about the "freezing of peace negotiations." Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stressed that he has tried to arrange direct talks with Putin numerous times.
