North Korean Army's General Staff Department (GSD) accused South Korea on Tuesday of military "provocation" and urged Seoul to stop military drills.
"This morning, the enemy fired about 30 artillery shots at the Cho-ri shooting range in Jindong-myeon, Paju, Gyeonggi Province," the GSD stated. "This is a very serious act of armed provocation that further aggravates the created situation," it added.
Earlier, Pyongyang urged South Korea and the United States to "immediately" stop their "irresponsible and worrisome" joint military drills, while North Korean leader Kim Jong-un's sister Kim Yo-jong warned that Pyongyang would consider any military action by the US a "clear declaration of war."
