OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said on Tuesday in a memo obtained by CNBC that the firm hasn't received "anything official" from billionaire and entrepreneur Elon Musk, after reports on his $97.4 billion bid.

"Our structure exists to ensure that no individual can take control of OpenAI. Elon runs a competitive AI company, and his actions are not about OpenAI’s mission or values. They are tactics aimed at weakening us because we’re making great progress," Altman stated in the memo.

Altman and Musk, who once worked together, exchanged jabs at each other following the media report about the latter wanting to takeover OpenAI, with the support of other investors.
