Panama stressed that the sovereignty of its canal was "non-negotiable," hours after United States President-elect Donald Trump refused to give assurances against using military or economic coercion to reclaim it.
"The sovereignty of our canal is non-negotiable and is part of our history of struggle," Panama's Foreign Minister Javier Martinez-Acha was quoted as having said by AFP. He added that President Jose Raul Mulino made his stance clear.
