Former United States Vice President Mike Pence markedly attributed responsibility to former US leader Donald Trump for the role he played in the Capitol insurrection.
"President Trump was wrong," Pence remarked at the Gridiron dinner, a yearly formal event in Washington, D.C. "I had no right to overturn the election, and his reckless words endangered my family and everyone at the Capitol that day, and I know that history will hold Donald Trump accountable."
Citing executive privilege, Pence filed a request to prevent a subpoena for his testimony before the grand jury regarding the January 6 events.
