The Pentagon is considering considerable cuts to the top United States military as President Donald Trump's administration intends to downsize the federal government, CNN reported on Wednesday, citing a defense official and a briefing document.
According to the report, the Pentagon is mulling the elimination of a directorate that oversees joint force development, training, and education, and freezing the expansion of US Forces Japan.
The Pentagon is also exploring the possibility of combining the European Command and the African Command into a single command based in Stuttgart, Germany and merging the US Northern and Southern commands into a single AMERICOM command, according to CNN.
