A Douglas DC-4 airplane carrying two people crashed near Alaska's city of Fairbanks, CBS News reported, citing local authorities.
The plane crashed just minutes after it took off from Fairbanks International Airport, sliding onto the bank of the Tanana River and catching fire. Alaska State Troopers found no survivors.
"At this point right now, we don’t know where the airplane was headed to," Clint Johnson, the National Transportation Safety Board’s Alaska chief, said, adding that he speculates that the plane carried a significant amount of fuel along with the passengers due to the "significant post-crash fire."
