The British pound traded near the session lows against the United States dollar after United Kingdom Prime Minister Theresa May delivered remarks in the Parliament regarding the Brexit deal. May stated that the divorce proposal "is a matter of national interest" despite calling it "ambitious." Meanwhile, market watchers also digested UK Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson's resignation that followed shortly after David Davis also decided to leave his post of Brexit Secretary.
Sterling lost 0.25% against the greenback to sell for 1.3255 at 4:57 pm CET while it also declined 0.28% against the euro to go for 1.1277 at 4:58 pm CET. In the meantime, the UK currency fell 0.12% against the Swiss franc at 1.3133 at 4:59 pm CET.
