Russian President Vladimir Putin on Saturday commented on the ongoing protests against pension reform in France, describing the demonstrations as a domestic issue.
In an interview with the Rossiya-24 television channel, Putin stressed that, in his view, Moscow should not become involved because this is a problem for Paris to solve on its own. "Well, you know, first of all, it's their business. It's France's internal affair," said Putin.
The series of general strikes erupted in January this year after a proposed nationwide increase in the retirement age. According to reports, the demonstrations were accompanied by clashes between protesters and the police.
