The Qatari Foreign Ministry on Thursday strongly condemned Israel's strike on a United Nations-run school in the Gaza Strip that killed 18 people, including six staff of the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA).
The ministry said the "horrific massacre" represents Israel's "criminal approach and its defiance of international humanitarian law" and called for an independent investigation into Israel's "continued targeting of schools and evacuation centers." The ministry also stressed that the Israel-Hamas conflict must end immediately to address the "catastrophic" humanitarian situation in Gaza and protect its remaining infrastructure.
