Belarusian Defense Minister, Viktor Khrenin, stated on Tuesday that the joint regional grouping of troops with Russia is "purely defensive."
"The tasks of the Regional Grouping of Forces are purely defensive. And all the activities carried out at the moment are aimed at an adequate response to actions near our borders," said the minister in a message quoted by the ministry press service.
Yesterday, Belarusian president Alexander Lukashenko revealed that Belarus and Russia will deploy a joint military task force in response to "an aggravation of tension on the country's western borders."
