United States Secretary of State Marco Rubio spoke with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty, they expressed the "importance of the U.S.-Egypt strategic partnership for promoting regional peace, security, and stability."
Rubio underscored the importance of "close cooperation," in planning post-conflict security and governance in Gaza. He also thanked Abdelatty for his country's mediation efforts during the Israel-Hamas hostage negotiations. The two officials also discussed the importance of preventing Syria from being "used as a base for terrorism or from posing a threat to its neighbors."
Additionally, they discussed the importance of pressing the Sudanese belligerents into ending the conflict and allowing humanitarian access. Furthermore, they talked about Egypt's vital need for water security and the "importance of advancing a diplomatic solution on the Nile River in the interest of all parties."
