Russia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have agreed to form a joint venture to develop a supersonic passenger plane, Russian Industry and Trade Minister Denis Manturov (pictured) told reporters on Sunday.

Manturov noted the companies involved in making the aircraft will be UAE's Mubadala and Russia's United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) or some of its subsidiaries. He also noted the two countries are yet to decide what share each of them would hold in the joint venture.

The Russian minister added the plane will be made in two versions: one that can carry eight passengers and another one that can carry 30. He noted the appearance of the airplane is set to be developed by late 2021 or early 2022.
